We're not playing "Cemento y Agua" anymore....

Before we explain our hatred of "Cemento y Agua", let's go over what we did today. This morning, a small group of us went to the school to share Bible stories. Then we all  met up at 11 for the children's Mother's day celebration....which lasted 3 hours....in the scorching sun. During the program, the principal gave us the opportunity to sing "This Little Light of Mine" and "Hosanna" in Spanish. The children really loved the songs we sang and even continued singing them to us throughout the day. Our next project was picking up trash along the main river in Matucana. We ran into a very angry bull and he did NOT like Juan. We wanted to celebrate cleaning up the river by eating a healthy amount of churros, but sadly enough the churro man was MIA. :(

Now about "Cemento y Agua"....

After an exceptional dinner of chicken omelets on rice, a few members of our group went to help an elderly lady in the church fix some things around her house. The rest of us played on the playground with the children.
By the request of the kids, we played a rousing game of  "Cemento y Agua," the Spanish version of freezetag. It was all fun and games until Sally decided to chase a non-playing Juan. A fall and one swingset pole later, Sally found herself on the ground with a bump on her head. Although we don't think it was anything serious, we took her to the doctor to be safe. Coincidentally enough, this was the same location where Patrick obtained an elementary-sized scrape on his knee. We're beginning to think there is something wrong with this playground.

On a brighter note, our mission to reach the people of Matucana is going very well. The children are starting to know us by name (except for Hayley...because they can't pronouce it) and impersonate all the Bible stories we have told them. They are hungry for it. God is definitely moving in the hearts of the people here and seeds are being planted. ¡Muchas gracias por sus oraciones!

.....the search for the churro man continues....
