It's been a "cray cray" day!

Buenos Noches! Today was a very long day for all of us. We woke up earlier than usual to practice our set for the Mother's day celebration. In Peru, Mother's day is a huge deal...probably because of the veneration of the Virgin Mary. People from all over Matucana and the surrounding villages filed into the square for the festivities (which lasted about 7 hours). We were blessed with the opportunity to perform 2 songs and a skit for everyone who came. We all sang ¨Hosana" and Caleb and Cathleen did a beautiful Spanish version of ¨You Won't Relent." We also performed a skit based on the story of the Prodigal Son. It was an incredible experience to share the love of Christ in front of so many people.

After our set, we immediately went to the church for a night of songs and games with the kids. Needless to say, they had a great rendition of musical chairs. More like musical backs. We also played Simon Says, Charades, and a multitude of pretty awesome Peruvian games. After church, we went to dinner and sampled a Peruvian delicacy: Guinea Pig. It tastes like chicken...and it still had it's little feet attached. We also got to teach some of our interpreters and a few local kids a sampling of American words like "swag", "cray cray", "totes", and "bromance." Video coming soon!
