International Stardom

Yesterday began like any other day in Matucana. Caleb, Cathleen and Caitlin left for Collana early in the morning to help spread the gospel. They are the last team that´s going up there so we hope that once they leave, Juan will be able to continue to spread the gospel and encourage people through the love of God.

The rest of the group; Matt, Indya, Andrew and Kris, went to the school again to hang out with some of the children. We attempted to go to a few homes to meet some of the people that we have meet earlier in the week but unfortunatly, none of them were home....then the search for the churro man began...

We traveled to the town San Mateo, about 30 peruvian minutes away because we were told that the churro man was working there. After a 45+ minute drive we arrived in the town right before sunset. Martin (one of the translators) took us to his friends shop to help encourage him because he was a fellow believer in Christ. After a short visit, his friend told us where the Churro man´s family worked at, so we went on our way. We went to the store and found his family there and his uncle who sadly informed us that they stopped making churros for the week because they were resting. We may have shed a tear or two. We sang him our churro song (video coming soon) and he gave us the ingredients for the churro so the trip wasn´t a complete waste. But the story doesn´t end here for God showed up in an incredible way...

To our surprise, a local news reporter was in the store as we sang the churro song to the shop owner. When we were about to leave he stopped us and asked for an interview. Naturally, we said yes and on camera he asked us questions such as why were we here and where we were from. We answered him by explaining that we were here on missionary work, sharing the love of Christ to people in Peru. We also mentioned the Church (Principe de Paz) we were with and explained that they were a Church in Matucana that anyone was welcome to come visit. So what turned out to be a fun trip to San Mateo to find the churro man turned out to be an incredible opportunity to share the love of Christ to a large portion of San Mateo through a simple news reporter. God works in incredible ways.

Sadly enough, today is our last full day in Matucana. We are sad to be leaving soon but we are happy for what God has showed each and everyone of us while we were here. We pray that God will help the Church grow and for Pastor David to remain strong despite the opposition that has come his way. Pray for us, that we will be given more opportunities to share the gospel today and for people to see the love of Christ through us as begin our last day.
